How to Find Recipes Online
I am not the kind of person who looks for recipes or plans for the week before going to the grocery store. I tend to buy the things that are on sale, and end up with a bunch of ingredients that I don’t really know how to put together. I used to turn to the typical recipe websites.
I spent hours on recipe websites looking for a recipe that I had all the ingredients for and that I would actually enjoy. I would go from website to website until giving up and making one of the 3 dishes (pasta, fried rice, and hamburgers were all I ate) I make time and time again. First I found Recipe Puppy.
Recipe Puppy is a recipe search engine that lets you search for recipes by entering in the ingredients you already have. It also lets you exclude certain ingredients, so if you absolutely despise an ingredient(ie mayonaise) you will never have to see a recipe with it again. For me this website is a huge timesaver. Instead of searching for hours and defaulting to the same boring meals, I am able to find something I want to cook within minutes.

Then the people behind Recipe Puppy came out with a new website, CookThing. This made the recipe discovery process even easier for me. Instead of going to the kitcCookThinghen and typing in every ingredient I had, I now simply type in what I want to eat (rice, chicken, cookies, etc). It gives me a list of ingredients to choose from, and I just select the ones that I have and want to use. Presto, I have a recipe that I want to eat that uses the ingredients I have on hand.
